Posthumously poet

Fame had the lady undone
Being a posthumous poet.
Poets shall die eating of it.

Dead men’s eyes are pearls
Of sea opalescent, useless
To owner of the eyes now
See-through like empty air.
Fame whooshes thro them.

(Taking off on Emily Dickinson’s Fame is a Fickle Food)
