Last nail

Inside leather shoe is a creaky nail
Keeping body and its sole together
Now in revolt against foot’s views
Creaking it is time for final ascent.

The trusty last nail drives it down
Away from all its funny business,
An act of grace hiding for all time
A fallen respect from prying eyes.
