Sea change

Tonight it fell to our lot to drop
Our eyes on child on the beach.
Refugees are checked for visas.
They are also checked for virus.

Let us open little clenched fists,
A procedure needed for all ages,
To decide when a heart stopped.

We see no pearls of eyes strewn
Near spread out child on beach.
We are waiting for a sea change.
But a sea is calm ,ruled by moon
And sea advised caution tonight.
