Walls have ears

We believe the walls have ears
But walls  are hard of hearing
Using hearing aids for poems.

Small talk is a lyric truth prose
You whisper into a wall’s ears
In the stillness of a broken lie.

Walls hardly perk up like dogs.
They are our dog-eared books
Unmoved by talk, small or big.
